Rockstar’s teamed up with U.K. retail giants GAME & Gamestation to make available an exclusive pre-order incentive for upcoming bullet-time blaster Max Payne 3.
Those of you who plonk down the cash early for the action sequel at the above retailers will be rewarded the Cemetery multiplayer map as a neat pre-order bonus.
Apparently, the incentive is already proving a hit with consumers, with Rockstar trumpeting “strong” pre-order numbers.

Star Wars Battlefront 3 was in development at Free Radical

Steve Ellis, co-founder of TimeSplitters developer Free Radial Design, has revealed that the company was working on Star Wars Battlefront 3 and 4 before the studio was snapped up by Crytek.
Speaking with GI International, Ellis said the studio maintained a strong relationship with LucasArts after signing a deal with the Star Wars IP owner in 2006. In fact, LucasArts approached the studio to develop a sequel to the first Battlefront game before the original was even released.

Layoffs hit EA Montreal

Publishing giant Electronic Arts has confirmed that a ‘very small number’ of layoffs will hit its Montreal studio this week.
A spokesperson for EA corporate communications told GI International that the layoffs come as part of “routine changes” in light of a refocus on digital initiatives, such as mobile and social projects.

A new live action teaser video for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has appeared on the internet and teases… something for next week.
Closing with the phrase “make it right,” the mysterious video points to the date April 30 as if to say we might be hearing more then. We probably will.

Calvin Johnson Nabs the Madden NFL 13 Cover

The votes have been counted, and Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin “Megatron” Johnson has beaten Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton for the cover of Madden NFL 13. Fans had been voting via ESPN for weeks in tournament style competition, and in the end, Johnson’s 19.6 million votes beat out Newton’s 12.7 million.

Konami patching Silent Hill Downpour and HD Collection

Konami today announced it will soon release patches for Silent Hill Downpour and Silent Hill HD Collection to correct frame rate and audio synch issues. Development teams are currently working on patches for both games—including auto-save issues in Downpour. We can expect a fix in the coming weeks.
