At the end of this month, the Nintendo 3DS will turn one year old in the United States. What a difference those past 12 months have made. With a price cut and two juggernaut titles turning the tide, the system has enjoyed a surge in sales, not only overseas in Japan, but in the United States as well.
Nintendo’s Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Scott Moffitt, recently chatted with IGN about the success of the 3DS, listing off several critical, and impressive, statistics. Here...

Mario Kart 7 is one of the 3DS’s biggest titles to date, selling more than one million copies in the U.S. alone. We recently got a chance to speak with the game’s producer, Hideki Konno, via e-mail and ask him about things like Mario Kart 7’s development, working with Retro Studios on track design, and why you can’t turn off those darn blue shells. Here’s what he had to say.
IGN: Mario Kart games have, in the past, expanded their roster with each release. With Mario...

As of now, very little is known about Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2, outside of their platform (Nintendo DS) and release window (this June for Japan and this Fall everywhere else). Otherwise, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company are keeping relatively mum on the first numbered Pokemon sequel – though it’s pretty safe to assume they will somehow continue the story of Pokemon Black and White.
The only other tidbit of information that has been revealed so far comes in the form two new...

Nearly two years after it was first announced, Resident Evil Revelations made its way into stores to strong critical and commercial reception. Having an exclusive entry in such a major franchise has only continued to boost the Nintendo 3DS’s reception in the global marketplace, but the simple fact is the system will need continuous support of this level in the years to come.
Given the fact that Capcom managed to deliver Revelations as well as Mercenaries 3D inside of the first year of the 3DS’s...

It looks like Japan is getting another color to add to the 3DS rainbow this month. The new Cobalt Blue system, pictured below, is set to hit Japanese shelves on March 22 for the usual 3DS going price.
It’s blue!As reported by Andriasang, Japan will also be getting a special 3DS bundle for Fire Emblem Awakening, which has still yet to be confirmed for a U.S. release. And as if that’s not enough, the blue 3DS included in the bundle will feature two sickeningly cool dragons surrounding a...

Fans of committing intergalactic genocide rejoice – the original Metroid for NES is now available for purchase on the 3DS eShop. As the first entry in the series, it also paved the way for the likes of Super Metroid and Metroid Prime. In line with Metroid’s cost on the Wii Virtual Console, this title costs $4.99 to download.

When word arrived from overseas that a huge Pokemon announcement was going to be made on the Japanese show Pokemon Smash!, most of us were pretty confident we knew what the news would be. The obvious candidates were the third entry of the Black and White generation (Pokemon Gray, in other words) or the next generation of games – either choice, we presumed, would be presented on Nintendo’s newest handheld, the 3DS. What we got was something entirely unexpected and utterly unprecedented...
