Namco’s 2005 PS2 game Tales of the Abyss is back in the minds of Japanese gamers — the new 3DS port hits shelves over there tomorrow, and that port will be coming to both the US and Europe later on this year. As it crawls up to its eleventh year Sony’s PlayStation 2 has racked up another sales landmark as it’s announced the console has just shipped 150 million units.
Sony’s official announcement came accompanied by some other eye-swelling stats – the PlayStation 2 can boast a library of 10,828 games, and it’s shifted 1.52 billion units of software since the system launched in Japan in March 2000.

UK’s Coalition Government Cancels Promised Tax Relief for Videogame Industry

Game development studios located in the United Kingdom won’t be getting tax breaks after all.
In a speech at Westminster, Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne confirmed that the tax relief had been canceled (via GamesIndustry.biz), saying that the original plans were “poorly targeted.”
Some of the studios affected by the decision include Codemasters (Bodycount), Rare (Kinect Sports) and Traveller’s Tales (Lego Star Wars).
