For a certain sect of fans, the Wii’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl was never good enough. For all the excitement of finally getting a sequel to the GameCube’s 2001 Melee, the most dedicated of players left the ring disappointed at changes that Nintendo made to their favorite fighter. Since day one, fans of the franchise have always argued that alterations made to Brawl were done to appeal to a more casual crowd, with the infamous and unpredictable “tripping” mechanic being a beacon...

During the recent Nintendo Direct broadcast, company president Satoru Iwata announced that Nintendo is preparing to release a global firmware update for the 3DS on April 25.
The new firmware will add patch support, as well as the ability to create and label folders on the 3DS home screen. Each folder will be able to hold up to 60 items, and the first letter of whatever you name...

After revealing it was working on a new 2D Mario project for the Nintendo 3DS earlier this year, Nintendo has finally given that game a name – New Super Mario Bros. 2. The platformer is due to be released in both Japan and North America in August 2012.
The publisher released no concrete details about the game outside of four screenshots. The most important bit of information? The Power Leaf, and Raccoon Mario, are returning. Additionally a quote from Nintendo’s Facebook page has revealed...

Due to room scheduling issues, we were unable to record in IGN’s high tech/fancy schmancy podcast room – but did we let that stop our podcasting shenanigans? Not bloody likely. As...

Last week we laid down four possibilities for Super Mario 4. The choices we outlined included a true, 8-bit sequel to the Super Mario Bros. games, a 3D platformer, a new Super Mario World game and Super Mario 4 Wii U.
At the end of the article, we asked you readers to cast a vote in our poll and tell us which of these options you most want this still unconfirmed Mario game to be. It was rather close, but a modern Super Mario World took the win. Check out the results in the handy infographic below...

Square Enix may have been listening to your fervent pleas after all – as it looks like cult hit DS adventure The World Ends With You may finally be getting a sequel. Whoa. Now before you freak out and start crying and all that, keep in mind that the existence of this sequel hasn’t been confirmed yet… but recent comments from series co-creator Tetsuya Nomura make a pretty convincing argument.

Despite the fact that Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been in the hands of Wii owners for more than four years, the game continues to evolve. Though many fans (rightfully) love Brawl just as it is, one particular community of more than 50 volunteers...
