I am contractually obligated to mention progressive rock trio Rush whenever there is any connection between it and video games. Seriously, my job is on the line here, people. So please know this: Next week, Rush’s 20-minute opus 2112 will be available for download via the Rock Band Music Store.
2112 will be broken up into three parts:
“2112: Overture, The Temple of Syrinx”

Last night (in North America time), Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata got up in front of a camera to host the latest Nintendo Direct. The stream video conference format, last used to announce the recently released 3DS firmware update, was used again as an announcement platform for some big(-ish) Nintendo happenings, namely some key 3DS release dates and game details. Note that all announced dates should at this point be considered "Japan-only."
First, dates. The 3DS Fire Emblem game, bearing...

So, apparently, Link is dead.
I’m as surprised as anyone, as aside from some infrequent and quickly corrected Game Over screens over the years, my Link has never personally met that fate. My Link’s always been brought briskly back to life – courtesy of a bottled fairy or the reset button – and he’s always gone on to continue and complete his current quest.
But Nintendo has now declared, via the just-released Hyrule Historia timeline for the Zelda series, that my Link...

Tonight’s Nintendo Direct wasn’t as newsworthy as the first one for those outside of Japan. The pre-recorded broadcast was largely comprised of trailers and release date announcements for 3DS games in Japan.
The new Fire Emblem for 3DS was described as an original game being designed for the handheld. In Japan it’ll be known as Fire Emblem: Kakusei, which in English translates to Fire Emblem: Awakening. The report from earlier today that the first premium downloadable content...

Though many Americans are still at home and relaxing with time off from work for the Christmas holiday, Nintendo is still just as active as ever. Today the company aired its second “Nintendo Direct” pre-recorded video presentation, and just like the first time this kind of thing happened back in October we’ve received an array of new announcements.
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata primarily focused the 45 minute running time of this latest video discussing upcoming game software...

Myst! It may not be the ORIGINAL PC adventure game (or anything even close to that), but it IS a wildly popular one from a time when CD-ROMs were still considered a new teechnology (CD-ROM being the computer disc-thing that existed before DVD). The game has been ported to numerous platforms since its 1993 release, and now Hoplite Research, the developer behind the previous Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable ports, is hard at work on a 3DS version of the game.
A press release confirms that Maximum...

Much like it did in October, Nintendo has announced a Nintendo Direct broadcast with only a few days’ notice.
The official Nintendo Direct Ustream page has been updated with a date and time for its next broadcast. The event is set to take place in Japan on Tuesday and, like last time, it will be conducted in Japanese. For those in the United States who want to watch along, language barrier or not, the stream will start on Monday night at 10PM Eastern, 7PM Pacific.
October’s event...

WayForward’s weirdos are at it again. These demented minds have already unleashed downloadable madness upon Nintendo fans thrice before – with the adventures of a belly-dancing half-genie, a dimension-flipping wizard and a planet-smashing alien girl – and DSi owners have loved every minute of each one. Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, Mighty Flip Champs and Mighty Milky Way set the high bar for quality on DSiWare, and in so doing also set players’ expectations high for what...
