You awake in an ocean. In front of you is an island painted in vibrant colours, speckled with woods and ruins, meadows and mountains. You swim towards it. Wading onto the shore causes music to play. This music comprises how you interact with the world, altering depending on where you’re stood, the time of day, the weather, the animals you chase, and the season.
Functionally, that’s more or less it. How Proteus works can be summarised in a single, brief paragraph. Explaining why it works,...

Here is the first trailer for Dishonored, people! Bethesda is finally showing off the steampunk-powered action game in action! (If you guess Dishonored yesterday, pat yourself on the back!)
Check out how amazing this trailer is. Words fail me. I realize this is just the game’s cinematics, but damn, is this thing cool. I would need to type "want" about 86 times to express my true feelings here. Click play! Come on!

I know, I know. He’s got white hair, eyes like a snake, and a scar that puts Tony Montana to shame. It’s hard to miss Geralt of Rivia, but in the daily deluge of gaming news, I managed to do just that. So consider this a helpful reminder: The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition launched on PC yesterday, and it’s now ready for your downloading pleasure.
Featuring additional quests that CD Projekt Red says will keep you Witchering for an extra four hours, new cut-scenes and cinematics, and...

My five-sizes-too-small heart grew slightly larger this morning when I saw that Brian Fargo and the crew at inXile Entertainment closed out their Wasteland 2 Kickstarter campaign on a high note. The Desert Rangers will officially return thanks to a whopping $2.93 million in contributions from more than 61,000 supporters and an additional $100,000 in direct PayPal funding. Game on.
I have to admit, I didn’t think Fargo would be able to duplicate Tim Schafer’s Kickstarter magic. But after...

The Game: Offroad Velociraptor Safari
Genre: 3D Raptor Time Travel Sim
Platform: Browser (Unity)
The Scoop: Offroad Velociraptor Safari is a weird, weird game. In the best possible way.
Gamers control a Jeep with a spike ball dragging along behind it. Your goal is to run down raptors, stick them to the ball, and then drag them back to a teleport pad in order to teleport them to the future. The best part about OVS is bevy of bonus ways points can be scored. My favorite is the “raptor...

Last year was simply enormous for Xbox 360 fans. The system celebrated record sales numbers for hardware, massive cross-platform games, and huge exclusives like Gears of War 3, Forza Motorsport 4, and Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary. With all of those successes, Microsoft would have a tough time topping itself the following year. However, looking over some of the awesome games set to release exclusively on the console this year, you can see how it just might be able to pull it off.
Here’s...

Thanks to the release of NVIDIA’s GTX 680, which debuted at $50 less than the competing Radeon HD 7970, AMD is chopping prices on a bunch of their top-of-the-line GPUs. Consumers can expect to pay fewer of their hard earned dollars for all the 7900 and 7700 series AMD cards, including the flagship 7970.
Officially, the HD 7970 is dropping from $549 to $479 — roughly $20 cheaper than the GTX 680. And the HD 7950 dropping all the way from $449 to $399.
This is likely to make the choice...

Putting “ultra” in front of something creates high expectations. With the recent flood of thin, light, and relatively powerful “Ultrabooks” coming from nearly every PC manufacturer on the planet, it’s time to take a close look at how well these laptops live up to their names when put in the hands of a PC gamer. Ultrabook gaming may never deliver the maxed-out graphics of a good desktop GPU, but you can at least get your fix — even with high-end games.
Note that...
