Hey, the first documentary episode of Double Fine’s Adventures With Money is now out, thanks to that Kickstarter you backed a couple of months ago. It sure is heartwarming to watch Tim Schafer put your dollars to good use as a third layer of clothing. Wait, what’s that? You didn’t back the venture? Yeah, Schafer knows these things. Luckily, he and his pals at the apple-colored Double Fine offices have opened a Paypal account for additional would-be backers. They thought of everything!

Cyanide, the studio behind the game adaptation of the colossal Game of Thrones franchise, has released a video that looks “Behind The Wall” of the RPG’s development. Lead Designer Sylvain Sechi and Director Thomas Veauclin discuss their communication with the book series’ author, George R. R. Martin, how they went about building the game world, and the playable characters. Unfortunately, no word yet on whether we personally will be given the chance to slap Joffrey.

After Bethesda’s open-world fantasy RPG Skyrim sold 10 million units, no one could blame Capcom for hoping there’s room for more than just one fantasy RPG title about slaying dragons and saving the world. Dragon’s Dogma represents a three year development cycle for the Japanese studio, with more than 150 developers plugging away at its design. With the game representing such a large investment, a lot is riding on how well Dragon’s Dogma will fare at retail.

Despite a reputation for high adventure, a day in the life of the average Caribbean pirate must have been dreadfully dull, with long stretches at sea and nothing but scurvy to occupy them. Port Royale 3 at least manages to capture the boring nature of life at sea — but other than that I have little good to say about it other than that I don’t think it’ll give anyone scurvy.
Port Royale 3’s premise seems like a recipe for an amazing game: as a castaway starting out in a Spanish...

As much fun as I have with many of the iOS games I play, there are few which I stick with for very long. In some cases that’s because the free or $0.99 entry point for these games have a direct correlation with the amount of depth they contain — there’s one good idea, but it’s not necessarily something you’ll want to spend more than a few hours with. Jetpack Joyride is a straightforward auto-runner, hardly the sort of thing that I would expect to play for long. And...

It may have cut it close, but Camouflaj’s debut title, Republique, managed to reach its Kickstarter goal in the final hours before its deadline today. The project kicked off a month ago seeking $500,000 and, after an initial surge of pledges, found itself struggling to attract backers. Rather than accept the fact that there was not half a million dollars out there to fund a hardcore iOS title like this, Camouflaj adapted and now finds itself padding that $500,000 with additional pledges ahead...

Valve and Blizzard have ordered their legal teams to heel and come to a mutual agreement over the rights to the DOTA name. The studios announced today that Valve has dibs on the use of DOTA commercially, while Blizzard can keep calling its noncommercial Warcraft III mods DOTA. In other words, nothing changed. Well, except for one thing: Blizzard DOTA is dead. Long live Blizzard All-Stars!
In a brief joint statement, Blizzard and Valve said they are both pleased to settle their DOTA dispute.
