A second developer diary video for Diablo 3 has made its way online, providing another retrospective look at the development process of one of the most hotly anticipated games in recent times. Like the first clip, part two takes us back over a year ago, this time to April 5th 2011 which was three weeks before Blizzard kicked off their internal beta testing process for the game. Blizzard’s Jay Wilson, Christian Lichtner and Jason Regier discuss racing the clock to fit as many features in...

After the announcement of Grand Theft Auto V, Sleeping Dogs — the game formerly known as True Crime: Hong Kong — may have lost some of it’s appeal. But for the time being, United Front Games’ open-world action game contender has one thing it’s behemoth competitor is lacking: a release date. Square Enix have revealed the global launch window for Sleeping Dogs and an Australian release has been dated for August 16th 2012 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Additionally,...

We’re not sure why EA hasn’t been shouting this from the rooftops themselves, but Gameblend are reporting that for over a month now (since March 8th) the Origin account suspension policy has been updated and bans from other EA services will no longer affect singleplayer access to games or DLC purchased from the Origin store. If you find yourself with a disabled account, please note that you can still play EA games in single-player mode. For PC games you will need to enable Origin’s...

Abrash on Life at Valve and What They’re Doing with Hardware

Posted by on Apr 15, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Michael Abrash has written up a great blog post on the official Valve blog, recapping the last few years and how he ended up at Valve. Those with long memories will recall Abrash worked at id Software alongside John Carmack on the original Quake engine, handling many of the low level optimisations responsible for performance back in the days before 3D graphics cards were standard on PCs. The post goes into fascinating detail about how Valve works as a company, talking about their management-less...

Sequel to Rune Being Considered by Human Head Studios

Posted by on Apr 15, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Human Head Studio’s official Facebook page for their viking action game Rune had been suspiciously active recently for a fan-page of a 12 year old game and now it seems pretty obvious why. The latest post rather bluntly states “We are considering a sequel to the cult hit classic Rune!” (via StrategyInformer). Over the past week, the developer had been sharing game art from classic Rune and asking fans not-so-subtle questions such as what platform they’d most like to see...

Game Review: Anomaly Warzone Earth

Posted by on Apr 15, 2012 | Leave a Comment

I enjoyed Anomaly Warzone Earth way more than I originally thought. I like Tower Defense games, but to be perfectly honest, the bloom has sort of come off the rose a bit for the genre. With a few exceptions, nearly every Tower Defense game I’ve played is exactly the same. It’s cool for the mechanic, but gets dull after a while. Anomaly Warzone Earth flips the script on the genre, placing you in the role of attacker rather than defender. Rather than strategically placing turrets around...

Game Review: Yesterday

Posted by on Apr 15, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Yesterday, like Pendulo Studios’ previous titles, is an artful blend of animated 3D characters and painted backdrops, but unlike those older titles like the Runaway trilogy and The Next BIG Thing, this is a dark story, both in mood and humor. While Yesterday is a darker title, it is still a visually appealing game. Not only are the various environments gloomier and drearier, but it dares to go into locations that other Pendulo titles haven’t ventured, not to mention deal with themes...
