The next chapter in the Bit.Trip saga has been unveiled, and it looks like it’ll be a retro-styled platformer!

Revealed in Destructoid’s “Most Wanted Wii games of 2010″ article and confirmed on the official Bit.Trip Facebook page, the next game in the popular retro-styled WiiWare series will be called Bit.Trip RUNNER. By the looks of the only screenshot revealed thus far, RUNNER looks like a platform game in the vein of the original Super Mario Bros.

So far, the Bit.Trip games have had more of an arcade-puzzle focus, with the series mascot Captain Commander relegated to cut-scenes. This game, however, seems to put him front and center as he tackles the next old-school adventure. No release date information has been revealed, but given that the first three games have released every four months, we’re hoping to see much more of this game come March.
