Psychonauts Rights Revert to Tim Schafer’s Double Fine

Buying a new copy of Psychonauts will now see the proceeds go directly to developer Double Fine. The company’s publishing arrangement with Majesco has expired, according to programmer Anna Kipnis. She revealed the news on Twitter earlier today, although she has since said it wasn’t meant to be treated as an official announcement.

Six years after the release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Rockstar is still getting into legal trouble over the game. This time, though, it has nothing to do with any hidden cutscenes; instead Cypress Hill backup singer Michael “Shagg” Washington is suing Rockstar, claiming they used him as the inspiration for main character Carl “CJ” Johnson without consent.

Yesterday, the world learned through former Xbox exec Ed Fries that Steve Jobs was reportedly quite angry with Microsoft after they purchased Bungie, so much so that he even needed to be appeased with phone calls and deals to port Bungie games like Halo to the Mac later on. Prior to releasing the 2008 Prince of Persia reboot and way before this year’s Forgotten Sands, Ubisoft was apparently working on a modern-day take on its classic franchise. It was bound to happen eventually, but the players dubbed “The Halo 2 Twelve” have finally finished their labor of love.
