Little is known about Bungie’s Destiny, but today brings new details thanks to some leaked materials that the Halo creator confirms are the real deal (via IGN). In addition to some peeks at concept art, the leak also lays out some basic facts about the game’s story.
The short version: seven centuries from now, humanity is on its last legs. One city remains on Earth and an alien ship with an unknown purpose orbits the planet and keeps it safe (somehow). Until monsters appear at the edge...

I really don’t envy the folks who are given the daunting task of developing annual installments for sports franchises. It just seems like one of those “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situations. Purists will cry foul at the slightest of diversions from the status quo, while everyone else will accuse the franchise of stagnation when they notice that much hasn’t changed. I suppose the way to go really is to make incremental improvements. And luckily, that’s...

Microsoft pushed out a new system update for Xbox 360 consoles this morning, Major Nelson confirms. Don’t get too excited though. The update is entirely of the bug-fixing variety, meant to address a handful of issues relating to the video game platform’s multimedia capabilities.
For those who had issues with playlist names displaying correctly when launched from Xbox SmartGlass, that’s been fixed. Also fixed is an issue with Xbox Video close-captioning and an unspecified error...

Thanksgiving is now just a day away here in the United States, but what many people are looking forward to is the crazy shopping day that ensues the following day. HD collections are all the rage these days. Most of the truly great franchises of the recent past have been brought back in high-definition glory. God of War, Devil May Cry (with the obvious exception of 2), Metal Gear Solid, and The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection have proven that these games still matter to us. These classic franchises stand in almost comically stark contrast to the most recent recipient of an HD Collection: Dragon Ball Z Budokai, a fanservice-based fighting series...

Singing at your TV may not be as much of a big deal now as it was during the Rock Band/Guitar Hero heyday, but it’s still a fun enough diversion at parties to warrant Microsoft partnering up with The Karaoke Channel for the upcoming Karaoke app. Users will have access to a library of over 8,000 sing-along tunes to bring parties to a crashing halt with.
The unusual twist here is the payment model. Karaoke isn’t an Xbox Live Arcade download that you can just buy with MS Points. In actuality,...

The ESPN app on Xbox Live has also been good for non-spotlight coverage, but a newly launched update changes things for the better. Users now have access to all of ESPN’s live programming across its assorted channels as well as weekly coverage of the NFL (Monday Night Football, people!), MLB, and NBA.
The enhanced app streams in all live content from ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, Buzzer Beater, and Goal Line via WatchESPN. The app also allows for two events to be streamed in a split screen mode...

According to our reviewer, Adam "The Riveter" Rosenberg, Hitman: Absolution is a triumph of detail, plot and murder, and a lot of the credit goes to the details made possible by the game’s engine.
Check out this snippet of our Hitman: Absolution review:
"Every one of the game’s 50+ discrete environments is brimming with life and personality, as well as any number of points of interaction. There are makeshift weapons to be found, shortcuts and secret access points...
