Xbox 360
Microsoft has made its $99 Xbox official. The 360 with Kinect and a 4GB HD is available in Microsoft stores, and is only sold with a 2-year commitment to Xbox Live at $14.99 a month. Check it out on the official Microsoft site. Print the coupon and stop by a Microsoft store for the cheapest ever Xbox.
My question: is this kind of subsidized console going to catch on? We did the math, and the ultimate savings over traditional Xbox ownership is about $39 over two years, but the $15-a-month version...

Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse wasn’t exactly a well-kept secret, but now it’s official: The Griffin family and friends from Quahog are coming to gaming consoles this fall in a Family Guy video game. Gaming can be an expensive hobby, particularly if you’re keen on picking up games as they are released. With your typical console game going for $60 at launch and there being no shortage of quality titles to play, those costs can quickly add up, making it difficult to keep up with the latest releases. UPDATE: We’ve got some official word from Activision on this. A PR rep told G4, "Stay tuned on this. We will have more news for you shortly." I’d say that this at the very least confirms that the product listings are accurate.

The plight hovering over the crazy, over-the-top antics of any Suda51 title has been the developer’s inability to find a reasonably large audience willing to support his creations wholeheartedly. With last June’s EA-backed Shadows of the Damned, the shooter crowd proved less-than-keen about going to Hell to save the hero’s girlfriend, even if critics claimed it may be the best game the studio ever produced (1UP didn’t, admittedly). Realistically, EA never expected the title...

Is $99 a good deal for an Xbox 360? Well, maybe. If you don’t have a credit card and you don’t mind paying extra for the console over a contracted two-year period.
The bigger question perhaps, is this – could the idea of selling consoles cheap, then having consumers pay over fixed-contract periods be a Trojan horse for a coming next-gen strategy?
It allows the hardware manufacturer to disguise the price of the hardware by bundling with an expensive service offering.Certainly,...

Microsoft confirms the production will cease on the Inside Xbox video series, which brought a range of original programming to Xbox Live. That means no more Major’s Minute, no more Insider Moves, no more anything under that Inside Xbox brand. A Major Nelson blog post confirms the news that the programming will no longer be available in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
The reasoning behind the move is only vaguely referenced. "At Xbox, we are focused on making entertainment...
