Nintendo’s fiscal results for 2012 are due in just a few days, but more important than that milestone is one simple fact – E3 2012 is a mere six weeks away. More and more, all eyes are focusing on that show for one reason – Nintendo will be fully unveiling its next home console. After dominating the industry for several years with bold, mainstream-oriented tactics, Nintendo’s innovative, motion-controlled Wii ran out of steam, limping badly for the past year as its release...

For a certain sect of fans, the Wii’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl was never good enough. For all the excitement of finally getting a sequel to the GameCube’s 2001 Melee, the most dedicated of players left the ring disappointed at changes that Nintendo made to their favorite fighter. Since day one, fans of the franchise have always argued that alterations made to Brawl were done to appeal to a more casual crowd, with the infamous and unpredictable “tripping” mechanic being a beacon...

Welcome back to another rowdy edition of Nintendo Voice Chat, IGN’s very own Nintendo-centric podcast. Once again the cast is made up of IGN Nintendo’s intrepid editors: Audrey “Just Saiyan” Drake (otherwise known as ME!!) and Rich “Papa Koopa” George. Now on to the show!
Due to room scheduling issues, we were unable to record in IGN’s high tech/fancy schmancy podcast room – but did we let that stop our podcasting shenanigans? Not bloody likely. As...

Despite the fact that Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been in the hands of Wii owners for more than four years, the game continues to evolve. As many anticipate Nintendo’s next installments of the fighting game franchise, which have been announced for the 3DS and Wii U, an eager enthusiast community of pro players has taken to crafting the type of Smash Bros. game they’d like to play.
Though many fans (rightfully) love Brawl just as it is, one particular community of more than 50 volunteers...

Earlier this week, Shigeru Miyamoto revealed two of the Wii U games Nintendo will have on display at E3 2012: a new Mario adventure and Pikmin 3. Further comment from the company confirmed these plans, and specified that the Mario game would be based on the prototype shown at E3 2011, which featured a 2D, New Super Mario Bros.-esque approach combined with the presence of Miis. Nintendo also registered SuperMario4.com, lending more support to some sort of 2D-styled platformer.
Though it’s too...

It’s been nearly a decade since the futuristic racing action of F-Zero last sped across our screens with a new console sequel, but last week’s comments from Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto have essentially given the green light to talk of another installment. If it turns out Captain Falcon, Samurai Goroh and the rest of that intergalactic rogues’ gallery of racers are indeed getting ready for a Wii U grand prix, here’s what we’d expect to see.
Wii U Example 1: Getting...

Pikmin 3 for Wii U will be shown off at E3 2012, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed in a recent interwith the El Mundo, a Spanish-language newspaper. This was later confirmed to Game Informer in a statement from Nintendo of America:
"In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Pikmin game will be shown at the E3 Expo in June. He believes that anyone who has played Pikmin games in the past will enjoy playing."
Miyamoto previously talked about a new Pikminduring the Nintendo roundtable...
