Nintendo: No Wii U Price, Launch Date at E3

Those expecting Nintendo to fully reveal its full Wii U launch plans at E3 2012 will need to wait a bit longer. Today, in an investor’s briefing, global president Satoru Iwata noted that his company does not plan on revealing pricing plans or precise launch dates for the new HD system at the annual show. Nintendo continues to lose incredible sums of money, even as the company’s new portable dominates the Japanese market and its reported losses were less than its previous estimates. For the 2011 fiscal year (April 2011 through March 2012), Nintendo posted a historic first-ever net loss of $530 million dollars. It looks like Dragon Quest X: Waking of the Five Tribes Online will be hitting Japan sooner than expected. As reported by Andriasang, Square Enix announced the Wii version of the game will be released on August 2. This new title marks the first MMORPG entry in the series. After a few years of waiting, it looks like North American gamers will finally be able to get their hands on the New Play Control! version of Pikmin 2. This Wii update of the original game adds motion support, and already came out in Japan, Europe and Australia in 2009. Crytek has said that it’s unlikely that its new first-person shooter Crysis 3 will make an appearance on Wii U. Nintendo’s new console is expected to be out before Christmas 2012, with speculation pointing to a November release. Meanwhile, Crysis 3 is due for a release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in spring 2013.
