XSEED is prepping hack-‘em-up Way of the Samurai 4 for a North American release, reports the PlayStation Blog.
In addition, the game will also receive a PAL release in 2012 courtesy of Rising Star.
The PlayStation 3-exclusive sequel was originally released in Japan over a year ago, and sees a lone samurai faced with a daunting decision: fight off British traders with a resistance group, join up with a group of fighting foreigners or aid the government to keep the peace.
The previous instalment,...

Say goodbye to plastic peripherals and hello to some streamlined, fast-paced rhythm action.
Before Guitar Hero and Rock Band reduced our living rooms to a plastic peripheral junk yard, developer Harmonix made a little known title for PlayStation 2 called Frequency; a fast-paced rhythm game that used a standard PlayStation 2 controller to perform songs. So too did its follow-up Amplitude, which upped the pace and made the seizure-inducing visuals even more outlandish. Both were incredibly tricky...

We got to play two maps and two game modes to find out.
While Far Cry 2 boasted a long and varied single player campaign, its multiplayer didn’t really manage to compete in a post-Modern Warfare world. For Far Cry 3, a separate team at Ubisoft Massive is hoping to create a multiplayer experience that can compete with the shooting genre’s heavy hitters, as well as carve a niche of its own. We were lucky enough to get to play the game at a recent preview event to find out how it’s...

Assassin’s Creed III lead writer Matt Turner says the game will feature more Desmond than any previous entry in the series.
“All I can say about Desmond’s story is you’re going to experience more Desmond than you’ve ever had before,” Turner told CVG. “We’re spending more time on the present than we have in past games.”
“It’s a big part of our story and I don’t really want to give too many details away because I want people to...

Already showing some chops in the old-school department with their work on Shantae and Contra 4, developer Wayforward Technologies revealed that they are working with Majesco to bring an updated take on the classic side-scroller Double Dragon to Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network. Double Dragon: Neon is an aptly-named 80s style reboot of the beloved franchise and is scheduled to release this July.
Double Dragon: Neon pits players as the familiar Lee brothers, Billy and Jimmy, as they fight...

Live together, die alone. The refrain might sound familiar. It was uttered time and time again in the TV series Lost, whenever the survivors of Oceanic 815 found themselves in peril. And the sentiment rings true for another set of tropical castaways: the players of Far Cry 3’s multiplayer.
Ubisoft’s latest instalment of the exotic first-person shooter attempts to stand-out from its peers by encouraging players to work as a team. Battle Cry is a brand new mechanic that incentivises working...

It’s no secret that the rhythm game genre is at a low point when it comes to being on the radar of your average gamer. The genre bubbled a few years ago, and you couldn’t set foot in a college party or any form of social gathering without someone pulling out plastic guitars and virtual wailing away on some classic rock tunes. Cut to the present, and plastic peripherals are staples in garage sales and thrift stores, as many have completely abandoned the genre as a whole. However, the...

Following on from the launch of the recent Far Cry 3 gameplay trailer, Ubisoft has released a fresh batch of screenshots for its upcoming first-person shooter.
Here’s the lowdown…
"With Far Cry 3, players step into the shoes of Jason Brody, a man alone at the edge of the world, stranded on a mysterious tropical island. In this savage paradise, where lawlessness and violence are the only sure thing, players dictate how the story unfolds, from the battles they choose to fight to the...

Though Ubisoft is remaining incredibly tight-lipped on the finer details of its upcoming map editor for Far Cry 3, at least we know now that it exists and that it’s going to be more in-depth than the last game with a host of new community features.
At a Far Cry 3 event in London this week, game designer Daniel Berlin confirmed the feature but declined to go into further detail. The map editor for Far Cry 2 included a host of customisation options that are usually reserved for PC games, including...

At a Far Cry 3 event in London this week, Ubisoft showcased a dynamic new game mode for the Far Cry series called ‘Firestorm’ which looks set to deliver a brand new experience to the first-person shooter.
In Firestorm, each team has two supply depots to defend, but they also need to attack the two enemy supply depots at the other side of the map and set them on fire. When a supply depot is on fire it dynamically affects the map with the fire spreading and blocking off pathways that were...
