Publisher Electronic Arts (EA) announced today the creation of DICE Los Angeles, a new studio inspired by the name of its subsidiary DICE, the Swedish developer that has achieved outstanding success with its Battlefield franchise. DICE Los Angeles will be focused primarily on developing additions to the Star Wars universe.
This is the result of a recent multi-year agreement between EA and Disney, the latter of which recently acquired the rights to everything bearing the Star Wars name. In turn, Disney...

UPDATE: Bungie has debunked the image below to IGN, saying "when we actually announce something, we’ll use our current logo." So, it seems like the image below is just a clever (albeit flawed) fan fake in the aftermath of the "Destiny of Spirits" patent filing, which is still very much real. Thanks for the image credit, Andrew Goldfarb! -Kyle Prahl
ORIGINAL: Destiny, the upcoming title from Halo creators Bungie, is poised to be the start of a blockbuster series in the coming...

Author’s note: Every Assassin’s Creed title achieves considerable hype and success for the mere reason that it bears the Assassin’s Creed name. As an avid player of Assassin’s Creed II and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, I have questioned whether or not the series is becoming something of a Call of Duty – a sure top-seller that has become increasingly formulaic and less innovative. Do you agree with this perspective, or do you think that recent releases, as well...

Electronic Arts’ Online Pass program was put in place to gain revenue from the sales of used games. If a game was part of the program, it required a registration code to play online. New copies would come with the code, but once used, gamers would have to buy a new Online Pass. Today, EA announced their future titles will not use Online Passes due to the negative backlash from consumers.
In an email to GamesBeat, EA senior director of corporate communications John Reseburg confirmed the company’s...

Following today’s announcement that Gran Turismo 6 will be launching on the PlayStation 3 later this year, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi spoke about a potential release on the PlayStation 4.
When speaking to IGN about GT6 on PS4, Yamauchi said, "We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now." He later added, "I thought the best scenario would be to have the game come out, then...

Last week, we told you all about how Shahid Ahmad was making beautiful things happen on PlayStation platforms with unprecedented outreach to indie developers. Today, we can reveal the latest fruit of Ahmad’s labor: OlliOlli, a 2D skateboarding title from developer Roll7.
In some ways, OlliOlli is a logical hybrid of two disparate ideas that should go quite well together. The bombastic combos and high-score sensibilities of old-school Tony Hawk games are tossed in with randomly generated 2D...

When it comes to JRPGs, people recognize names like Final Fantasy and Star Ocean. Another fairly well-known series, the Tales series, has a new release on the horizon: Tales of Xillia.
Originally released in Japan on September 7, 2011, Tales of Xillia sold over half a million copies in the first week of release and is recognized in Japan as the most pre-ordered Tales game to date. Set for North American and European release on PlayStation 3 in August, Tales of...

Gran Turismo is a racing game series known for it’s vast diversity of cars, compared to many other games which focus on specific types of racing championship series. However, what you may not know is that Gran Turismo games contain cars deep within the game and aren’t accessible by the usual means but only through hacking the game or using those Action Replay discs many will remember from back in the day.
This has been the case since the original game, first released in 1997 in Japan...

I’m generally not interested in military FPS games. I’ve never owned a single Call of Duty and my first foray into the genre was with Battlefield 3. I enjoyed it, largely due to the fact that it seemed a lot more open than CoD and the inclusion of vehicles was an important part of the equation for me.
I wasn’t particularly good at tracking my crosshair on moving targets and generally lacked the tactics and skills that many have honed over years of shooting...
