White Knight Chronicles II is a divisive game. As the follow-up to one of the PS3’s most promising disappointments, there’s a group of the fanbase holding out hope that developer Level 5 could work out the kinks and deliver the sort of experience they’d hoped the original would provide. A quick look at the re-mastered version of White Knight Chronicles (included as an extra) shows otherwise. Outside a couple of tweaks, White Knight Chronicles II seems intent on pushing its play...

I think Resistance 3 is a game that may manage to slip under a few player’s radars. As a first-party property, it enjoys a certain level of marketing, but it is just that time of the year when all of the big guns are launched before the busy holiday season. There may be bigger, more appealing guns on the market, but Resistance 3 isn’t something to be overlooked.
Once again, Insomniac has done a masterful job at world-building. As you make your way across the US, you’ll see loads...

Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland is unique. It is a follow-up to an already good game with issues. Though it makes a couple of changes, they mean little in the grander scheme. Although fans of the original will like what it has to offer, it may not be enough to appease disgruntled fans or create new ones.
I absolutely love Atelier Totori’s look. Although I’m not a major fan of “anime style” visuals, I can’t get over how much like a cartoon the game looks. It’s...

No More Heroes is generally accepted as one of the Wii’s best games and with reason. Although flawed, it is a great example of how important a unique personality is to a game. Taken at face value, it is a somewhat common action-brawler, but the amount of personality injected by its uniquely Japanese characters and setting instantly elevates it to a memorable experience.
No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise is an enhanced port of the Wii version, sporting a new HD look, as well as Move support,...

As a long-time fan of the Disgaea series, I was predisposed to like Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten. That’s not to say it is a perfect offering – as always, there are problems – though the game has an undeniable charm and hundreds of hours of strategic depth, making it a must play for fans of Strategy RPGs.
Disgaea 4’s biggest upgrade is the visuals. The low-res sprites have been completely replaced with hi-res sprites. It is something fans have wanted since Disgaea 3, and...

In the Netherworld, Prinnies are usually the first to fight. Granted, by “fight” they are tossed into foes and explode… but that’s not the point. In the Human World, they would be hailed as heroes. Monuments would be raised in their honor and no Prinny would ever be alone on a cold night. In the Netherword, they’re somewhere between Red Shirt and “kicked dog,” if not a few rungs below.
Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten takes a slightly different approach....

If anything, Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension understands what makes the show so popular among kids and parents. Although the game itself doesn’t offer the same range of appeal as the show, it still gets a lot of things right.
It all starts with the writing and voicework. Both are excellent. It is hard not to laugh at the game’s snappy, smart jokes and dialogue. It’s the same sort of rapid-fire, sometimes subtle, delivery that makes the show great. The same sense of humor...

Almost every aspect of Captain America: Super Soldier has some good and bad points that makes certain aspects of the game feel great, but others a bit hard to get over.
For example, the game’s central character, The Star Spangled Man himself, looks great. His leathery outfit and shiny shield fill the screen with great effect. Enemy troops, both great and small, also look good, but the rest of the game’s visuals just don’t seem to reach the same level that those character models...

He’s seen the past and traveled to a parallel timeline. He’s matched wits with Tannens at every turn and even rebelled against an alternate version of his closest friend. Now Marty has to find a way to fix everything once and for all.
OUTATIME is, like past episodes, a well-written and great sounding adventure. The voice cast, which adds Michael J. Fox in a surprise cameo appearance, is fantastic. In past games, there were usually one or two vocal hiccups, but everything has been ironed...

For a game I spent a lot of time avoiding before E3, post-E3 I’ve written and talked a lot about Catherine. Like the game’s blonde love interest, once you’ve had a taste of what the game offers, it is really hard to stay away. For all the frustrations it introduces, it finds a way to reel you back in every time.
When I decide to rock a videogame soundtrack during my morning commute, you know the game has an exceptional soundtrack. I was able to score a soundtrack CD (and art book)...
