PS3 Game: All Zombies Must Die!

When I first picked up All Zombies Must Die!, I had the distinct feeling that I had already played and reviewed this game. After a few gameplay sessions, it hit me, the similarities between All Zombies Must Die! and another PSN title, Burn Zombie Burn! were too many to be ignored. Well, the reason for that is simple, DoubleSix Games developed both titles, and while All Zombies Must Die! isn’t touted as a sequel (spiritual or otherwise) to the 2009 game, it’s obvious that the older game...

PS3 Game: Corpse Party

Corpse Party is that rare type of game that manages to succeed and fail on a large scale, sometimes simultaneously. In the category of “first impressions,” we immediately warmed to the retro, RPG feel. There’s a blend of animated cut-scenes with overlay text and talking heads to tell the copious story. From all outward appearances, wandering through the world of Corpse Party might as well be a game pulled directly from 1985. Sprite-based and gloriously 2D, Corpse Party aims for...

PS3 Game: Cabela’;s Big Game Hunter 2012

I will freely admit that I haven’t really played hunting games before, not since Duck Hunt actually. I do like shooting guns though, so the idea of a new gun controller in Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012 really appealed to me. The first thing I noticed is that the graphics are quite well done, of the animals at least. The animals and the nature scenes look amazing. I really liked roaming around in the snow levels especially, just because it was so pretty. The people aren’t perfect,...

PS3 Game: Tekken Hybrid

First of all, I should point out immediately that Tekken Hybrid isn’t a single game, but is, in fact, a bundle of Tekken goodness. There is a High Definition version of the original Tekken Tag Tournament, a preview of the upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (appropriately named Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue, as well as Tekken: Blood Vengeance 3D, a 3D compatible full-length computer animated Tekken feature film. There are also special features for the movie, including an interview with Tekken...

PS3 Game: LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5 – 7

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5 – 7 takes players through the last three years of the Harry Potter story in that unique LEGO manner that only TT Games can pull off. Like always, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5 – 7 really captures not only the LEGO sets you can buy in the real world, but also the locations from the movies and the personalities of the characters, and all in those non-verbal, but highly expressive cut-scenes. While I didn’t see any particular behavioral quirks that make any...

PS3 Game: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Given the fact that beauty is more than just skin deep, I’ve never seen a more beautiful game than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The graphics are, generally, highly detailed and beautifully done. They’re not typically vibrant, as the game is set in an arctic setting full of frozen tundras and snow-capped mountains. However, the game looks astounding, in part, due to the excellent use of physics and spot-on lip synching on the character animations. Actually, it goes beyond physics and into...

PS3 Game: Mercury Hg

Posted by on Dec 01, 2011 | Leave a Comment

I have been both a follower and a fan of the Mercury games since they first released on the PSP, and as a result, I’ve played pretty much every version of the game that has been released. Given that, I am very pleased to see Mercury Hg. Not only is it a whole new slew of puzzles for you to solve, but there are enough new features to make the game feel like more than just another sequel. Mercury Hg’s visual style returns to the more realistic look of the original game, rather than the...

PS3 Game: Fate/EXTRA

There are a lot of RPGs that just aren’t brought over to America, but I’m certainly glad that Fate/EXTRA was. It is a strategy RPG with a robust story that provides plenty of entertainment without being repetitive. The characters in Fate/EXTRA do speak out loud but their voices are in Japanese, so unless you speak Japanese, you’ll have to rely on the subtitles to tell you what’s going on. Unfortunately, short things like the opening of battles aren’t subtitled so we...

PS3 Game: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

At this point, I’m completely convinced that Activision could slap the Call of Duty moniker on absolutely anything and open with record-breaking launch day sales. Not that they would, but they could. Is this a good thing? After playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3… I don’t have an answer to that question. Don’t get me wrong; it’s a quality product that features a well-produced campaign and a expertly-balanced multiplayer component. However, it isn’t a vastly...

PS3 Game: Batarang Wireless Controller

Posted by on Nov 20, 2011 | Leave a Comment

Batman: Arkham City is one of the biggest games of the year, and quite frankly, the Batman gadgetry makes an awesome jumping off point for gaming hardware design. Power A does just that with their Batarang Wireless Controller for the PS3. The Batarang Wireless Controller is a SIXAXIS-compatible PS3 wireless controller, with an awesome-looking design that says (in a gruff, hard-to-understand voice): “I’m Batman!” The Batarang Wireless Controller has a sweet, instantly recognizable...
