Syndicate is pretty. Your fancy, HD, pixel-loaded TV will definitely get a workout with this game. The standards like lighting and shadows are just very well executed. In addition, lots of details stand out like future magazines that look ordinary until you notice their scrolling text covers. Yes, every future game seems to be either Blade Runner or Mad Max-inspired, but this game really does earn the Blade Runner scout badge with ease. Future Los Angeles is even more crowded, now with towering buildings...

With SOPA, PIPA and other anti-piracy measures grabbing headlines worldwide, Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 finds itself in a rather interesting place. While the original Hyperdimension Neptunia touched on the idea of software piracy, the follow-up takes the problem on at full throttle. However, don’t expect a hard-hitting look at the issue; as was the case with the first game, the approach is more comical than serious with an anime-inspired JRPG bit of gameplay.
The original game looked okay,...

What’s Gotham City Impostors, you might ask? Think of it as the Batman game in which you don’t get to play as Batman. In fact, with the exception of a cameo in the intro video at the beginning of the game, the old bat’s not even to be seen! In his place, what you have are a bunch of do-gooders dressed up in capes and various assorted bat-ear-adorned headgear running around trying to thwart my dear, lovable, albiet heavily-armed, clowns. I ask you, what is the world coming to when...

I’ve always thought that the visual department was the strong suit of the Soul Calibur franchise, and so it is with this fifth installment. Visually, Soul Calibur V is one of the most technically impressive fighting games around. Animations are powerful yet deliberate, as if there’s substantial weight behind them. As they should be, considering the size of the weapons being hefted and hurled around. Character models are somewhat predictable for the veterans (not really a problem)...

Conceptually, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning isn’t very original. It’s a role-playing game set in a pseudo open world with a rather standard narrative at the center. However, it’s not my job to review concepts. My job is to let you know how good the final game is. Well, hear me: while Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning isn’t original, it’s a damn fine role-playing game that’s well worth your time and money.
Technically, Reckoning isn’t really a stunner. There...

I have to admit that I did not play Prototype when it first came out. I’m not sure how I missed it, but I think it was because several other of our reviewers beat me to claiming it. Actually, I didn’t play it until I found out I was going to preview Prototype 2 and that was a huge mistake on my part, because it is an awesome game. I would venture to say that it is the evolution of hack ’n’ slash, as you don’t even need to get weapons to fight with because you are the...

When I first picked up All Zombies Must Die!, I had the distinct feeling that I had already played and reviewed this game. After a few gameplay sessions, it hit me, the similarities between All Zombies Must Die! and another PSN title, Burn Zombie Burn! were too many to be ignored. Well, the reason for that is simple, DoubleSix Games developed both titles, and while All Zombies Must Die! isn’t touted as a sequel (spiritual or otherwise) to the 2009 game, it’s obvious that the older game...

Corpse Party is that rare type of game that manages to succeed and fail on a large scale, sometimes simultaneously. In the category of “first impressions,” we immediately warmed to the retro, RPG feel. There’s a blend of animated cut-scenes with overlay text and talking heads to tell the copious story. From all outward appearances, wandering through the world of Corpse Party might as well be a game pulled directly from 1985. Sprite-based and gloriously 2D, Corpse Party aims for...

I will freely admit that I haven’t really played hunting games before, not since Duck Hunt actually. I do like shooting guns though, so the idea of a new gun controller in Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012 really appealed to me. The first thing I noticed is that the graphics are quite well done, of the animals at least. The animals and the nature scenes look amazing. I really liked roaming around in the snow levels especially, just because it was so pretty. The people aren’t perfect,...

First of all, I should point out immediately that Tekken Hybrid isn’t a single game, but is, in fact, a bundle of Tekken goodness. There is a High Definition version of the original Tekken Tag Tournament, a preview of the upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (appropriately named Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue, as well as Tekken: Blood Vengeance 3D, a 3D compatible full-length computer animated Tekken feature film. There are also special features for the movie, including an interview with Tekken...
