PC Game News: Guild Wars 2 Release Date Revealed?

Posted by on May 15, 2012 | Leave a Comment

According to an ad spotted by game blog Kotaku, Guild Wars 2’s release date is June 28. Before you mark your calendar in pen though, the ad was supposedly spotted at a Fry’s in Texas, and retailers are notorious for using estimated dates for retail products. So it’s unconfirmed. Developers NCsoft has this to say in a statement:  "We have not released an official launch date within 2012 as feedback from our closed and open marketing betas will help us determine an exact...

See how it measures up and then leave us your thoughts in the comments. The world of Motenia is a hot mess. The main players in Motenia lore include The Dragon Emperor, a merciless dictator who was sealed in stone by the Witches of the Millennium; the Goddess of Fate, who had a vision which led her to believe that the Dragon Emperor...

Update: Diablo 3 Review in Progress

Posted by on May 15, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Midnight. Diablo 3 is downloaded, installed, and awaiting the witching hour when the servers unlock so I can begin my descent into Hell. The time comes. I enter my Battle.net login info, click “Play,” and… get a message that “The servers are busy at this time. Please try again later. (Error 37)” Oh, goody. Stay awhile, and listen, and get drunk. My fears about the consequence of depending on online servers to allow access to what, for many people, will be a single-player...

Nvidia Announces Cloud Gaming Tech

Posted by on May 15, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Cloud gaming is a great idea in concept. Being able to stream games to any device and play, regardless of the hardware you own is an immensely attractive and frugal idea. But the only real retailer in the field is OnLive, and their service, while pretty solid, can feel clunky and laggy. Now, Nvidia is hoping to take the next step by introducing GeForce GRID, its own game streaming service. There’s a bunch of science behind why Nvidia’s product will supposedly be a heck of a lot better...

Command Lines: Bridging the Divide Between RT & S

Over my vacation last week, I managed to get together with some friends for my first LAN party in about five years. I could write an entire column on just what is so special about LAN gaming, and why voice chat and a fast internet connection still doesn’t replace that party feeling, but I’d rather focus on the game that stole the show: Kohan. After several rounds of Unreal Tournament and Ghost Recon: Island Thunder, our host urged us to try Kohan: Ahrimen’s Gift, and over the next...

TERA’s Political System Patched In

Get ready to put on your tyrannical ruler hat and laugh maniacally. Today’s TERA patch adds the much talked about political system. Starting tomorrow, level 50 and above characters that lead a level 3 guild with at least 20 members have a week to convince players in their favorite districts to vote them into the office of Vanarch. Hooray democracy! Vanarchs will have a few responsibilities, including setting the taxes for the realm they’re ruling over. They’ll rule for a full month...

Ghost Recon Alpha is a Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Prequel Movie

If you’re super pumped for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, boy do we have a treat for you. To prep for the story of the upcoming tactical shooter, Ubisoft has put out a 24-minute prequel “movie.” The high-budget affair sets the stage for the basic story of the upcoming game. There’s a guy that some Americans need to kill because he’s evil. There’s a remote-controlled flying thingy. And there’s a whole bunch of explosions. That’s all I really got out of...

Player Finishes Diablo 3 in 12 Hours, 29 Minutes

Posted by on May 15, 2012 | Leave a Comment

I’m not sure if this is impressive or kinda sad. Probably both. In just over half a day, Diablo 3 player Yoshichan (kinda rad name) has completed Diablo 3 on Normal mode and posted the confirmation on NeoGAF. His now level 32 Barbarian took 12 hours and 29 minutes to hack and slash her way through the depths of hell. And here I was thinking that my level 14 Demon Hunter was impressive for the morning of day one. Granted, he’s only beaten the first difficulty mode of the game. He’s...
