Reset’s New Haunting Trailer Debuts

Not much information is available about Reset, the upcoming first-person puzzle game from indie developer Theory Interactive. Reset’s official website gives hints about “a strong emphasis on story and atmosphere,” and bizarre word combinations like “single player co-op.” Apparently the latter refers to Reset’s unique mechanic wherein you, “travel back in time to solve puzzles co-operatively, with yourself.” Reset’s debut trailer doesn’t...

STALKER 2 is Dead – Long Live Survarium

Posted by on Apr 25, 2012 | Leave a Comment

The creators of STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, now reassembled as Vostok Games, have been unable to come to an agreement with the rights holder of the STALKER franchise. This means the sequel that was in the works is “frozen,” and the team is moving on. Vostok Games will instead be making a free-to-play MMOFPS called Survarium. It will be a PC exclusive, set to be released at the end of 2013. While the project sounds intriguing, it’s unlikely to fill the hole in the hearts of STALKER’s...

But if you’re one of those elusive gamers, you can head over to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – Free Weekend Steam post, and preload the game in preparation for your weekend of getting shot at by invisible helicopters....

Valve Working on a Linux Port of Steam

Posted by on Apr 25, 2012 | Leave a Comment

In an interview with Linux enthusiast Michael Larabel, Gabe Newell has spilled the beans about a Linux port of Steam that’s already well underway. Cited among the reasons for finally doing this port are Gabe’s negative impressions of the upcoming Windows 8. Valve is currently spending much of their Linux development efforts on a port of Left 4 Dead 2 (seen running natively on Ubuntu Linux above,) which may well launch alongside the native Steam client. Gabe says this is because of the...

A Valley Without Wind Trial Ready for Download

A Valley Without Wind is innovation wrapped in nostalgia and sprinkled with crazy. Get this: it’s a Metroidvania-style side-scroller with levels that are created on the fly as you play. There’s crafting, permadeath, and even elements of turn-based strategy. I have no clue how Arcen Games is going to pull all of this off, but I do know I want to try it. That’s why I’m happy to report a trial version of A Valley Without Wind is now ready for download. Grab your A Valley Without...

Guild Wars 2 Server Transfers Detailed

Posted by on Apr 25, 2012 | Leave a Comment

I take this as a sure sign ArenaNet is ready, really ready to launch Guild Wars 2: if, by chance, you should choose the wrong Home World (server) to play on in this weekend’s beta event and you’re left to adventure alone while your friends party up on another server, no worries. ArenaNet is happy to fulfill your server change requests… in the frickin’ beta. There was a time, not long ago, when changing servers in an MMO was a pain in the ass. Now? Not so much. Posting on...
