THQ Moves South Park RPG to 2013

Eying its dwindling pile of chips, THQ uneasily shuffled its hand yesterday and traded in a couple cards. The latest moves by the struggling publisher have bumped the South Park RPG to next year, allowing THQ to create what could be the winning hand it desperately needs in early 2013.

Hi-Rez Studios has announced that SMITE will officially kick off its closed beta phase of development on Thursday, May 31st. Players can also pre-order some starter packs to give them a proverbial leg up once the CBT gets going.

We learn today, to no one’s great surprise, that Volition, Inc. is working on a fourth Saints Row game, apparently for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC platforms. The sort-of-confirmation comes from a LinkedIn profile for a Volition game designer, as spotted by the gaming Internet’s super-sleuth, Superannuation (via Polygon).
