It’s been a busy week for the Nintendo 3DS. Announcements of Monster Hunter and a circle pad expansion have been paired with tons of rumors about possible topics for Nintendo’s pre-TGS conference next week. Yoshi, Ace Attorney and more have been suggested. Today three more titles have surfaced as possible candidates, though the source is somewhat suspect.
On NeoGAF, a message board known for leaks and industry insider discussion, a poster claiming to have a scoop on the event suggests...

The official Japanese site for Resident Evil Revelations has just been updated with a few new details to whet fans’ appetites. It’s been said before that the title will be a return to classic survival horror, and Capcom promises that it will be full of tricks that will “make old fans of the series grin.”
Thankfully, though, it seems making a less action-oriented game doesn’t have to mean skimping on gameplay mechanics. As well as combat with firearms, knives and martial...

Anyone disappointed about last week’s less-than-impressive monochrome version of Pac-Man would do well to perk up and pay attention to this new DSiWare title, as DotMan is essentially a new take on the old Pac with a direct injection of nitro speed. It’s incredibly fast – you zip around a double-tall screen filled with coins and try to collect them all from inside your blazing red convertible while police cruisers serve as the equivalent of Pac-Man’s ghosts and try to hunt...

Golf gaming just keeps moving further and further back in time on the 3DS, as after the release of the modern excellence of Let’s Golf 3D in July and last week’s free shipment of the retro NES Open Tournament Golf to Ambassadors we’re now getting an even more retro take on the sport – Golf from the Game Boy. And it’s really, really retro.
As you’ve come to expect from Nintendo’s golf games, this one once again stars Mario hitting the links and going for...

On the other side of the speed equation from the fast-paced DotMan is the slow and ponderous Puzzle Rocks, a new DSiWare puzzle design that is really obtuse at first. Its gameplay is confusing to understand and get into – and even its developers seem like they’re at a loss to be able to explain it succinctly, as they dumped huge blocks of tutorial text into its Operations Manual that will boggle your brain.
Let’s see if I can do better.
Puzzle Rocks’ gameplay takes place...

One of the most distinguishing features from the original Star Fox 64 was the ability to go alternate routes. Depending on which path you take in a given level, which planet you go to next alters, as do the events that take place leading up to the final fight with Andross. Having a branched progression system that affects the story was a huge achievement back in the N64 days, and remains one of the more memorable parts of the game’s legacy.
Not surprisingly, this awesome mechanic is back for...

Nintendo’s price cut for the 3DS boosted the system’s sales to 235,000 units in August. Compared to a similar time period in July, the portable saw a 260% increase in sales after the price cut took effect.
The 3DS’s sales surge was enough to yield it second place for the month, just behind the Xbox 360. Wii sold 190,000 units and the collective “DS family” sold 165,000 units.
Two Wii exclusive games, Just Dance: Summer Party and Just Dance 2, were ranked in the month’s...

Forget for just one second that Nintendo’s adding a second circle pad to the 3DS. Capcom has announced an exclusive entry in the Monster Hunter series for the system. Though it has yet to be announced for the United States, here’s hoping this game, which is an upgraded version of Wii’s Monster Hunter Tri, will make its way over.
You can read some details about the game in our original Monster Hunter 3G story, but as Japanese readers dig through Famitsu’s story, more details...
