PC Game: Victorian Mysteries: The Yellow Room

Victorian Mysteries: The Yellow Room is a whodunit mystery taken from classic literature. In this case, the story is taken from Gaston Leroux’s novel “The Mystery of the Yellow Room” and the game goes through the twist-filled plot in the form of an adventure/hidden object game. In general, The Yellow Room looks good and it feels right for a story that takes place in the early 1900’s. Locations are colorful and the characters fit the part. In fact, the only place I found myself...

Torchlight II Preview

Of all the Diablo clones that have come and gone in the years between Blizzard’s flagship titles, none has been talked about quite as much as the Torchlight series. The developer, Runic Games, is made up of people that worked on games like Fate, Mythos, and yes, even the Diablo series itself way back in the day. The first Torchlight, which was a bit cartoony, single player-only, and at a budget price, did very well for itself, but it had some obvious limitations, the biggest of which...

Game Review: Risen 2: Dark Waters

I just finished Risen 2: Dark Waters this week, and left with a better impression than I would have when I first began playing it. There are still some issues Piranha Bytes is working out (at least in the PC version), but the strengths of this piratical adventure through Risen’s fantasy world outweighed them. One thing Risen 2 got absolutely right was the sights and sounds of the Southern Seas, particularly the voice-acting. Pirates curse and complain with gusto and imagination, leading...

It’s been pretty rough going for Norwegian studio Funcom since they got into the MMORPG business a decade ago. Sure, they’ve been profitable, but none of their online games have had the massive success that they had been hoping for, and have instead gone the free-to-play route (with premium elements, of course) within a few years of each of their games’ releases. But that hasn’t stopped them as their latest MMORPG done with EA as a publisher, a modern-day apocalypse...

Minecraft Xbox 360 Review

Played on: Xbox 360 The announcement of Minecraft for Xbox 360 has been kicked around for nearly a year, and finally this week this console port is out. The journey of this game from half-working alpha that people could buy into and play, all the way to a full game with its developers making millions, has been a strange one – primarily because the original creator, Mojang’s Markus Persson, saw the success of his game grow exponentially without a dollar spent on marketing. And with...

Game Review: The Walking Dead: Episode 1 – A New Day

Posted by on May 12, 2012 | Leave a Comment

First transitioning from the comic strip to the television screen, The Walking Dead franchise now arrives on your favorite console or operating system in the form of downloadable episodic content. Sticking with the graphic style that originally sparked a cult following, The Walking Dead: Episode 1 – A New Day delivers on a visual presentation that will turn a few heads. While the game is in full 3D, the artistic comic book style of the characters and environments holds true to the series. In...

PC Game: The Walking Dead: Episode 1 – A New Day

The Walking Dead: Episode 1 – A New Day kicks off a five-part episodic game taking place in Robert Kirkman’s zombie apocalypse universe. Unlike the TV series though, this game doesn’t follow Rick, Shane and the other main characters from the comics. Instead, Telltale Games introduces fans to a new group of core characters, but makes a habit of bringing in some familiar ones when it’s appropriate and doesn’t contradict the comic’s series of events. The first detail...

Escape the horrors of The Sprawl with a platinum trophy courtesy of this advice from the PlayStation Community.
